Moratorium on Homeowner’s Insurance Cancellations:
Insurance Commissioner Ricardo Lara announced a one-year moratorium on cancellations and non-renewals for homeowners insurance in ZIP codes affected by the Palisades and Eaton fires in Los Angeles County. Check if your ZIP code is included at insurance.ca.gov. For claims-related questions or to report violations, contact the Department of Insurance at 800-927-4357 or via their website.
Insurance Support Workshops in Pasadena and Santa Monica:
Have questions about your insurance policy and the claims process? The insurance commissioner is hosting two-day insurance support workshops to help survivors understand their options. This workshop is open to all those impacted by the recent wildfires. You can also call 800-927-4357 to schedule a one-on-one appointment with a Department of Insurance expert Dates and Locations:
State Budget Includes Funding for Wildfire and Forest Resilience:
Governor Newsom’s proposed 2025-2026 budget includes $1.5 billion from the Climate Bond, building on $2.5 billion invested in wildfire resilience. The $4 billion total will fund community protection, wildfire prevention, and firefighting efforts. Learn more here.
Community Support and Ways to Give Back:
Operation Bounce Back: A fundraiser and donation drive for LA Seniors affected by wildfires | Sunday, Jan 26th
The Paul Mitchell School is offering complimentary services to those affected by wildfires as well as services for those who donate requested items. Click here for more information.
Alliance for a Better Community Fuerza Fund:
This fund will provide immediate and direct emergency cash assistance to essential workers and households impacted by the wildfires, ensuring no one is left behind. To apply for assistance, click here. To contribute, click here.
We Care: Domestic Worker Relief Fund:
National Domestic Workes Alliance has set up an emergency fund. Every dollar raised will go directly to on-the-ground organizations helping domestic workers impacted by this disaster including CHIRLA, Instituto Educación Popular (IDEPSCA), and Pilipino Workers Center. Donate to the fund.
Immigrant Fire Relief Fund:
NDLON has rapidly mobilized to support the immigrant community impacted by the Eaton Fire, providing relief and recovery efforts rooted in solidarity and mutual aid. Donate here to support immigrant workers impacted by the Los Angeles Fires
Latino Community Foundation Wildfire Relief Fund:
The fund will provide immediate relief through cash assistance and other critical support to day laborers, domestic workers, street vendors, small business owners, renters, homeowners, and others whose lives have been upended by this tragedy. Learn more or donate at latinocf.org.
Latina Giving Circle Rapid Response Initiative:
Latina Giving Circle is raising $15,000 towards fire relief efforts in Los Angeles. If you’d like to contribute towards their joint gift and become an active member, please click here to donate to their grant fund.
Inclusive Action Open Air Worker Emergency Fund:
Inclusive Action has launched a new emergency fund to help outdoor workers – street vendors, landscapers, and recyclers – impacted by the fires. Through this fund, impacted outdoor workers can apply for one-time cash assistance support of $500. Recipients will receive cash payments on a first-come, first-served basis, and as funding allows.
